I woke up this morning to my mind leaping from one thought to the next just like a monkey swings from vine to vine. Aww the monkey mind! Left unchecked it will just keep swinging, so I decided to just sit down and meditate. Find some stillness! Find some peace! My friend and fellow yoga teacher, Ashleigh says..."Talk to the hand until you sit on your butt!" And I knew exactly what she meant by that this morning. I can let my mind take control of my day or I can take control of my mind. So I grabbed my malas and sat with a tall spine and started to watch everything coming up until it actually dissolved and I felt myself let go a little..... of the thoughts and of the tension the thoughts had created in my shoulders! I had created some space, some room! I felt much more free and ready to start the day. Later when I checked my email and found this quote below from my friend Norma, I really felt the universe sending me just exactly what I needed to hear today.....
LETTING THERE BE ROOM
Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
Pema Chodron
Sit and watch while all the stuff that arises and know that all of that stuff is not you! Know that you are beyond all of that, beautiful, spacious, WILD and FREE!
